Josh Beckett finished second to CC Sabathia for the AL Cy Young despite the fact Saba the Hutt pitched more innings, had a lower ERA, had more strikeouts and gave up less walks. Needless to say, Red Sox fans have already ran through four of the five stages of grief -- denial, anger, bargaining and depression (I doubt acceptance will ever occur).Surprisingly enough, Red Sox Nation is already lobbying on Beckett's behalf for the following awards:
- American League MVP
- Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year
- Heisman Trophy
- Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting
- AVN Award for Best DP Scene
- Nobel Prize for Economics
- Newton High School Cutest Couple Award
